Too hot to blog

>> Friday, June 26, 2009

I know I've disapeared from my blog lately, but I blame it on the weather. Michigan summers usually consist of 70 degree weather, low 80s with a nice breeze.

Usually when you do make it to the beach you're hoping it warms up enough to go into the water. Somehow, once summer hit on Sunday it's been hot 90 degree days with high humidity and very little wind.

Even Spud needed to get a hair cut so he wouldn't get overheated in this weather. As for me, sadly, I've taken my pregnant little self down to our basement and have been hiding out the past week while I haven't been at work.

Chris and I have kicked back, watched tv and relaxed. While that's kind of nice for me after a long day at work, I haven't really gotten around to take any good pics for my blog :( It looks like next week will be cooler though, and we'll emerge from our basement and back into our normal routine.

Me oh my, I love pie

Strawberry rhubarb pie. Need I say more?

I really haven't had anything by the way of cravings yet. I keep waiting for the weird cravings people talk about like pickles and ketchup or something of that nature. But so far the only things I could eat all the time are grapes, strawberries and strawberry rhubarb pie. Oh and maybe taco salads from the deli down the street.

Anyway, the other day I starting thinking about Strawberry Rhubarb pie at work and what do you know? My car drove itself to the store after work to pick up the ingredients.

When I make a pie however, it does take me hours. I didn't get a bite of this pie until around 9 p.m., but it was so worth it. Chris did get a kick out of my chalkboard though, I am the only person in the house who likes strawberries. I would probably have to pay him a dollar to eat a piece of my pie.

Thats fine by me though. :)

Month to month update

>> Thursday, June 11, 2009

Even though I'm six months and a week along, I took my six month picture this morning and then started looking back in my blog at my other belly pictures. It's really funny to see the progression of the belly.

You can really tell when he started growing a bunch, look at the difference between the fifth and six month! Wow! No wonder I'm slowing down. For a while I was still bounding up the stairs at work and fast walking down the halls. Now you'll pretty much see my little waddle walk and maybe a faster trot if I'm really in a hurry. It'll be funny to see what the next couple of months will bring.

A passion for words

>> Thursday, June 4, 2009

When I was little, my mom asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. The normal response would have been ballerina, firefighter, president, something interesting like that.

Nope, not me, I wanted to be a waitress.

My mom looked at her little girl, blond haired pig tails and all and said, "Why do you want to be a waitress when you grow up?"

"Because," I answered. "They get to write on paper all day."

This made total sense to me. I have always had a love for anything to do with writing. So when a friend at work brought in a catalog for Uppercase Living, I almost died.

I would make every wall in my house say something if I could.

That's if Chris would let me anyway. So I thought I would just start small and work my way up. Thank you Amy and your fantastic mother-in-law Sandy for feeding my addiction!

A good start

Chris and I being totally new to garden planting, have enlisted a good friend to help us out. Actually, she sweetly took us under her wing and seperated a ton of fantastic plants for us. But before we put them in the ground we decided we should probably work on our flower beds.

So last night we weeded, put down top soil and cleaned up along the front of the house. The right side is ready for some flowers, and now the left needs a little work.

We tired ourselves out by the time we got this far, so today we're getting right back to it after work.

Spud kept telling us it was time for bed, do you see the stare he's giving us? He's telepathically trying to tell us something. It was either that or he was hungry... we're not entirely sure.

A quick basement fix

>> Tuesday, June 2, 2009

We decided with the warm weather approaching quickly, we would finish off my side of the basement with paneling from Chris's side of the basement.

The guys worked a full day on Saturday moving paneling and getting it to fit in all the cracks. So now all my side needs is a little carpet and some paint!

Chris is excited too, because that means his man cave will be completely new looking with drywall, which he promises to paint a UofM blue. That kind of scares me, but I'm hoping to sway his decision a little when the time comes.

Nathan was also on hand to supervise the boys, and said he would like to have helped, but he's growing these new molars and it's taking a lot out of him.

Chris and I learned the value of wearing safety glasses while weed-whipping yesterday.

No, the right side of our sliding glass window isn't suppose to have that crackled glass look. This is what happens when you give a man a motor on a stick with some twine sticking out. While Chris was weed-whipping he accidently picked up a stone and chucked it into the window.

It's actually quite pretty, but sadly half of it fell by this morning. I guess we're in the market for some glass.
