Happy six months!

>> Friday, March 6, 2009

Here is my hunny, as we drive down to Tennessee on our honeymoon last September. We had two weeks of work off ahead of us and his mom had given us a basket of snacks wrapped in toole to snack on the way. Life was good :)

Fast forward about 6 months and you'll find a guy that married a woman who takes...can I even say it?.... the LAST POPTART.

Yes, this is me. The last poptart eater. As he's shuffling around at about 5:30 in the morning this morning and I'm flipping on the news, I hear him rustling around in the pantry and he lets out a sigh.

"Did you eat my last poptart?" he asks his pregnant wife.

"ummm...it's possible..." I squeek from the livingroom.

And that's how it goes. Twice this has happened, and it's shameful. Resulting in him having to eat cereal. The sweet thing is, he never cares. I love that. And when I woke up this morning at 4 a.m. from one of my crazy pregnancy dreams and coincidently woke him up in the process, he didn't complain.

I love him :-D

Happy 6 months sweetie!

In a heartbeat

>> Wednesday, March 4, 2009

So Friday was my first visit to my doctor, and it was just suppose to be a boring visit. I thought I had it all figured out. Boy was I wrong.

Getting there I realized that once you become pregnant, your modesty gets thrown out the window. Upon realizing this my blood pressure began to shoot through the roof. When checking your blood pressure, if you're wearing a sweater you have to stick your arm out of your sweater for the check.

"I can't just roll up my sleeve?" I asked to the nurse.

"Oh no, you can't get an accurate reading with your sleeve pushed up!"

Good to know. Next time, I'm wearing a t-shirt.

So the nurse informs me that my blood pressure is a little high, and they make me lay down on my left side for a while. No big deal.

Then, my incredible young doctor enters. I'm laying there on my side, trying to have a conversation with my doctor and feeling silly not being able to sit up. The nurse checks my blood pressure again, of course I have to stick my arm out of my sweater again and now I feel like there's an audience. Needless to say the blood pressure didn't get any better.

There was a silver lining in this appointment though, the doctor said he wanted to check for the heartbeat!! I had no idea this was coming. He said there was a great chance that they wouldn't be able to find it since I was only 10 weeks, but he did! I was officially their earliest-along patient to be able to hear the heartbeat. It was amazing! It was 170 and strong! I feel like it's all so real now and I'm not just getting sick all the time for no reason.

10 weeks

Here we go. I've been wanting to take another belly picture for a little while, but everytime I think about it I'm in sweat pants and look like death. This time I still look a little bit like death, but I'm a little more dressed for the occasion. We had just had dinner at Big Boys, and I finally cornered Chris to take my picture. So here I am a little over ten weeks...

Today I'm headed to my second doctors appointment and this time I get to meet my doctor, so this will be fun. Next visit we get to hear the heartbeat! It's all so exciting!

A puppy check-up

>> Thursday, February 26, 2009

Spud is always a happy dog. Even when I sadly had to pick him up to go for a "ride" yesterday that eventually led to the veterinarian's office, he didn't mind.

He made out a few sad noises once he learned that we weren't going to visit grandma and grandpa, or perhaps uncle Anthony, but he didn't let that bring him down. He wagged his little tail all the way into the little room to get his check-up.

Other than the fact that I guess he has hairy ears, they said he looks great! They gave him his shots and we picked up his license. Don't tell anyone, but we forgot to get his license last year! So this is his first year wearing his little tags, and at first it was scaring him when they would jingle! He'd look around to see where it was coming from and make them jingle some more. I think he's got all that under control now and it's nice to know we're not harboring an unlicensed dog.

Cute picture frame and feeling yucky

>> Wednesday, February 18, 2009

For our Valentines day, Chris and I took a stroll through Babies-R-Us, and wow.

I could have spent hours in there just looking at the different themes for the nursery and sitting in those fantastic gliders they have lined up in the back of the store. We also browsed the picture frames. I LOVE picture frames and when we came across a sonogram picture frame I wanted to make it my own. Unfortunately my husband and I had absolutely no money to spend at the time so he pried me away from the picture frames and we moved on.

Sunday we traveled down to my parents house to visit with my family, and Jason, Jenny and Nathan were visiting. When we got there, Jenny had a really sweet surprise for us:

A sonogram picture frame that reads: "Watching you grow, loving you so" :-D It was a wonderful surprise!! Thank you Jenny!

I can't wait until we have a little picture of our baby to put in it. If you notice it's missing the generic picture of the ultrasound it came with, there is an explanation for that. Chris has a problem with having picture frames around the house with the photos of other families in them, you know the ones that come with the frames. I think it drives him crazy.

It quickly disapeared after I placed it on the mantle.

8 weeks!

>> Wednesday, February 11, 2009

I'm now officially two months along! Starting this week I've begun to really have trouble with certain smells and I've found if I eat more little meals during the day I don't feel gross when it comes to eating dinner. Twice this week I've come home to this sight:

My sweet, sweet husband cooking for me! I love it! Spud supervised, of course. Just in case anything would decide to jump out of the pan, he was there to save the day. I'm really thankful to have my boys there to help me while I'm feeling icky. Just a couple more weeks and I'll be out of the woods and feeling like new! Thats what I hear anyway.

Pregnancy brain

>> Monday, February 2, 2009

Lately I have been more scatter-brained than ever before. I used to forget to do something once and a while, but today I drove off to work with my keys and my phone... and no purse.

Chris has to call me to remind me to do things. And these are things that I used to remember to do no problem. Pick up milk on the way home? Sure! Now I'm lucky I remember to bring myself home.

But last week something happened that made me feel not as crazy as I had been feeling. My husband, Mr. Elephant-mind, the man that remembers everything, made a boo-boo. I know I probably shouldn't be skipping around feeling giddy about this, but I can't help it.

It all started Wednesday night, when my dear husband asked what bill needed to be paid on Thursday. I told him our car insurance and the next day I came home to my sweetie and he looks at me and says "So, I paid your house payment today."

I laughed and asked, "Don't you mean the car insurance?"

I've never seen him turn pale as fast as he did right then. He had paid the highest bill we have, one that we had already paid for the month.

I couldn't help it, I laughed and gave him a big hug. It's nice to know I'm not the only one with pregnancy brain!

Thankfully, the bank let us have our money back and we paid our car insurance, but since then I've been feeling a little better about my forgetfullness.
